✨ Meaning

Someone extremely skilled with their hands, especially at drawing. In fandoms it praises fan artists, editors and people who make great handmade goods.

Origin

금 (金, “gold”) + 손 (“hand”). Where it first appeared is unconfirmed. Kyunghyang Shinmun notes it now shows up everywhere from cooking to crafts, though it’s listed only in the open dictionary 우리말샘, not the standard dictionary.

✍️ Examples

  1. 이 팬아트 그린 사람 완전 금손이다.
I paenateu geurin saram wanjeon geumson-ida.
Whoever drew this fan art has golden hands.

  2. 나는 똥손이라 금손님들 부러워.
    Naneun ttongson-ira geumson-nimdeul bureowo.
I’m clumsy, so I envy the golden hands.

💡 Usage tip

The opposite is 똥손 (ttongson, literally “poop hand”) or 곰손 (gomson, “bear hand”), used jokingly about yourself. Adding 님 (금손님) makes the praise extra polite.
